The Thing

  1. Reminds me of "The Doubtful Guest," which you doubtless intended. I appreciate all your Gorey references. I found this blog through the blog Drawn, and I'm so glad I did! I'll be checking it regularly from now on. Great work!

  2. The thing is love,
    The thing is hate,
    The thing is doubt,
    The thing is faith.

  3. Anonymous: that didn't occur to me when I drew the strip, but looking back, they are pretty similar. Guess I'm now channeling Gorey consciously and subconsciously...

  4. This is great. I just stumbled on your blog, and I love your illustrations. This one is my favorite so far. It reminds me of a story I listen to on a podcast. The story is "The Yeti Behind You." (http://www.fantasy-magazine.com/2008/01/fantasy-edited-by-paul-tremblay-and-sean-wallace-2/)

Anyways, I liked it even without the literary allusions.

  5. It reminds me of "The Schmurz or The Empire Builders" a play by Boris Vian...

  6. this kinda makes me think about the personal issues we have about ourselves/other people. in the end we learn to accept & finally embrace it.

  7. It also reminds "The Lost Thing" by Shaun Tan, but it has its own glamour. Thank you very much.
